While he wasn’t especially picky as a teenager, he got to know beers such as Adnams Southwold Bitter, at 3.7 percent ABV, and Woodforde’s Wherry, at 3.8 percent. In and around Norwich, Arnott got early exposure to the local drinking culture it’s legal in Britain for 16-year-olds to drink in pubs when accompanied by an adult. When they announced the move, a lot of their customers-understanding, perhaps, that its future was no sure thing- jumped at the chance to support Machine House while they could.
